Dave Green and Andrea Urmston formed an instant connection while working at Manchester Airport. Although they performed different roles, the two became close friends over a two-year period, frequently talking and texting outside of work hours.
The revelation occurred during a phone conversation when Green shared that he was adopted and mentioned his birth name was Stuart Proudlove. Urmston, whose maiden name was also Proudlove, immediately recognized the connection, as she had long known about an older brother given up for adoption before her birth. A quick check of birth dates confirmed their relationship.
Following the discovery, Urmston picked up Green and drove him to meet their mother, Susan. As they traveled, Green realized he had been driving past his biological mother’s home for years without knowing it, as it fell along his former bus route. The reunion was emotional, as Susan had spent years attempting to locate her son, even keeping a baby photo of him on her mantlepiece.
While Green had enjoyed a happy upbringing with his adoptive family and never felt the urge to search for his birth relatives, he expressed that finding his sister and mother was a life-altering event. Although their mother has since passed away, the siblings remain grateful for the time they shared. Today, they live together in Kidsgrove, Staffordshire, describing their reunion as a stroke of immense good fortune.
