Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticized the Tinubu administration, stating that the Presidency’s recent retaliatory remarks prove the government values deflection over transparency. Through his assistant, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku argued that the administration focuses on personal attacks rather than addressing critical questions raised by the public.
Atiku emphasized that government officials resort to name-calling when they lack substantive evidence to support their positions. He clarified that questioning public records linked to the President is a matter of governance, not an affront to the nation’s sovereignty. He dismissed the notion that seeking clarity on these records constitutes an attack on Nigeria, noting that these documents were not generated by opposition parties.
The former Vice President pointed out the contradiction of a government that courts international investment and validation while labeling external scrutiny as a violation of independence. He maintained that winning an election does not grant immunity from public accountability. Atiku specifically reiterated that the public deserves a direct response regarding allegations of drug-related financial forfeiture in the United States. He concluded that no volume of political rhetoric will deter citizens from seeking factual answers regarding the integrity of the country’s highest office.
