A tragic incident in Isara-Remo, Ogun State, has resulted in the deaths of two individuals and the hospitalization of two others. The victims reportedly consumed a substance identified as laughing gas during an event on Tuesday at Oke-Ola Phase II.
Local reports suggest the victims were students of the Gateway ICT Polytechnic in Saapade, though authorities have not yet confirmed their enrollment status. According to witnesses, the group ingested the illicit substance, which led to the fatal outcome for two of them.
DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, acknowledged the incident and confirmed that an official investigation is underway. The bodies of the deceased have been transported to the morgue for post-mortem examinations, while the two survivors are currently undergoing medical care.
Police officials have utilized this event to issue a stern warning regarding the dangers of substance abuse. Efforts to reach the administration of Gateway ICT Polytechnic for official comment were unsuccessful, as inquiries to the institution’s spokesperson remained unanswered.
