On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu congratulated Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the United States.

Tinubu expressed his desire to further strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and the U.S. in light of the complex challenges and opportunities facing the world today.

The congratulatory message was issued through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, and was titled “President Tinubu Congratulates President-elect Trump.”

Tinubu said, “Together, we can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens.”

According to Tinubu, Trump’s victory is a reflection of the trust and confidence the American people have placed in his leadership.

He also congratulated the U.S. electorate for their dedication to upholding democracy.

“President Tinubu believes that, given President Trump’s experience as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021, his return to the White House as the 47th President will usher in an era of earnest, beneficial, and reciprocal economic and development partnerships between Africa and the United States,” Onanuga noted.

Tinubu also recognized the United States’ influence, power, and role in shaping global events, expressing confidence that President Trump will work to bring the world closer to peace and prosperity.
