Isa Ashiru, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Kaduna State governorship, has tapped former legislator Irmiya Kantiok to be his running mate for the upcoming 2027 elections. Ashiru made the official declaration on Wednesday, highlighting Kantiok’s extensive background as both a lawyer and a lawmaker as key assets for the party’s future administration.
Kantiok previously served three terms in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, where he represented the Zonkwa Constituency. Ashiru praised his pick, citing Kantiok’s legal expertise and legislative history as evidence of his commitment to accountability and justice. According to the gubernatorial candidate, this partnership is designed to foster statewide unity, bolster public institutions, and stimulate development across all three senatorial zones.
The joint ticket aims to prioritize the rule of law, youth empowerment, and infrastructure expansion. Ashiru urged ADC supporters and Kaduna residents to support their vision, framing the selection as a move toward a more prosperous and equitable future for the region.
