Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has dismissed six commissioners as part of a tactical effort to reorganize his leadership team in anticipation of the 2027 elections. The decision followed the fifth State Executive Council meeting of 2026, which took place at the Government House in Lafia.
During the session, Governor Sule dismissed rumors of a full cabinet dissolution. He clarified that only minor adjustments would be made to improve governance and advance his administration’s upcoming objectives. He also expressed gratitude to the council members for their past service.
Shuaibu Magaji, the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, confirmed that the removals were intended to allow for new appointments. The impacted departments include Security and Sundry Matters, Women Affairs and Social Development, Works, Transport and Housing, Science and Technology, Information, Culture and Tourism, and the Ministry of Lands and Survey.
Magaji acknowledged the hard work of the former officials and noted that replacements will be named once formal procedures are finished.
