Oyo NDC members urge national leadership to intervene in state-level leadership dispute

Aggrieved members of the Oyo State NDC have petitioned the national party leadership to investigate state chairperson Oyeronke Akinlolu over allegations of arbitrary dismissals and divisive leadership.

A group representing members of the Oyo State Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally petitioned the national headquarters to address an ongoing internal crisis. Submitted in Ibadan this Wednesday, the request calls for an immediate probe into the conduct of the state party chair, Mrs. Oyeronke Akinlolu.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Engineer Oshiariyo Stephen Adeyinka argued that current leadership practices are harming the party’s stability. The members emphasize that resolving this friction is essential for maintaining cohesion before the 2027 general elections. Their primary demand is for an independent investigation into Mrs. Akinlolu’s management style.

A specific grievance highlighted in the petition involves the unexplained removal of over 50 members from the party’s official WhatsApp group. Adeyinka stated that this move lacked due process and hindered internal communication. The petitioners contend that such actions threaten the party’s electoral goals and urge national executives to implement restorative measures to ensure unity.
