A coalition known as the Concerned Leadership of Political Parties (CLPP), which includes the APP, YPP, PRP, LPP, and other groups, has voiced serious doubts regarding the fairness of the Osun State governorship election set for August 15, 2026. Speaking in Osogbo on Wednesday, spokesperson Oluseye Titus Odesola highlighted fears that recent local events could compromise the poll’s integrity.
The coalition specifically pointed to the recent seizure of motor parks throughout the state. They argue these takeovers are politically charged and could be used to manipulate the distribution of essential election supplies. To prevent tampering, the CLPP is urging democracy advocates, labor unions, and international observers to maintain strict oversight of the situation.
Furthermore, the group has called on the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Babalola, to establish a secure, transparent logistics plan. They warn that using compromised transport networks could lead to delays, theft, or interference with ballots and result documents. The coalition insists that the election’s legitimacy relies on the neutrality of the REC and strict adherence to voting guidelines.
Finally, the CLPP stressed the importance of protecting electronic voting technology from technical failures or intentional sabotage. They remain committed to the scheduled election date, demanding that every vote cast be honored and protected from political interference.
