Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has provided N50 million in financial support to 1,000 female petty traders based in the Iwo Local Government Area of Osun State. This initiative is aimed at bolstering small-scale business operations within the region.
Representing the First Lady, Alhaja Sekinat Oyebamiji, spouse of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, emphasized that the Renewed Hope Initiative remains dedicated to advancing the health and welfare of women and children. During the presentation in Iwo, she stated that this financial aid reflects the APC’s commitment to improving the lives of citizens should they succeed in the upcoming August 15, 2026, election.
Selected from various local markets, the recipients were encouraged to manage these funds wisely to foster business growth and provide better support for their households. Mrs. Oyebamiji pledged that an APC-led government in Osun would focus on economic policies favoring Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, including easier access to credit, favorable regulations, and entrepreneurial training.
Highlighting the importance of local economies, she noted that supporting small business owners is a vital strategy for job creation and poverty reduction. The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, praised the effort and urged for further economic development initiatives across the Osun West Senatorial District.
