Iranian officials have once again refuted allegations that a clandestine nuclear installation exists at Kolang mountain. This rebuttal follows remarks from US President Donald Trump, who recently suggested the location could face military action.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei labeled the American interest in Kolang Kouh as a manufactured excuse for hostility and destruction. He maintained that all of Iran’s atomic operations are transparently reported to the United Nations nuclear agency.
President Trump had previously stated his intention to strike the site, also referred to as Pickaxe Mountain, claiming the US could easily target the area. As of now, no such military action has occurred. Reports from major American news organizations in 2025 initially alleged that Tehran was rapidly developing an underground facility at the site, a claim Iran has consistently rejected. The mountain is located in the vicinity of the Natanz nuclear plant, which sustained damage during a conflict in June 2025.
