Two Killed in Latest Assault on Plateau State Village

Unidentified gunmen killed two people in a Tuesday afternoon attack on the Dorowa Babuje community in Plateau State, sparking calls for improved government security intervention.

A recent violent incursion in Dorowa Babuje, located within the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, resulted in the deaths of two individuals on Tuesday. Unidentified gunmen descended upon the village around 1 p.m., firing indiscriminately at residents and forcing many to escape in fear. According to local resident Alfred Bitrus, the attack happened without warning while people were occupied with their daily tasks. The assailants fled immediately after the shooting.

Rwang Tengwong, serving as the publicity secretary for the Berom Youth Moulders, denounced the violence as a heartbreaking occurrence. He criticized the persistent vulnerability of local populations and urged security forces to track down those responsible. Furthermore, Tengwong called upon both federal and state authorities to implement immediate measures to end these consistent threats to civilian safety. This tragedy follows a previous incident in February that claimed ten lives in the same area. Security officials have yet to issue a statement regarding the ongoing situation.
