Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has finalized a deal to manage the French national football team. His tenure is set to last until June 2030.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported the news on Tuesday, noting that the 54-year-old icon has already put pen to paper. An official presentation is anticipated shortly. Under this agreement, Zidane is slated to guide France through major upcoming tournaments, including the 2027 UEFA Nations League, the 2028 UEFA European Championship, and the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Zidane has been away from the sidelines since departing Real Madrid in 2021. His previous managerial tenure was marked by significant success, highlighted by three straight UEFA Champions League trophies and two La Liga titles. A hero of the 1998 World Cup winning squad, Zidane has frequently discussed his desire to helm Les Bleus. He is expected to take over from Didier Deschamps, who has been in the role since 2012 and is projected to vacate the position following the 2026 World Cup.
