Government Refutes Claims of ISWAP Raid on Federal Girls’ College in Monguno

The Federal Government has denied reports of an ISWAP attack on FGGC Monguno, confirming that all students and staff remain safe and that school operations are continuing without interruption.

The Nigerian Federal Government has officially labeled social media claims regarding an ISWAP militant attack on the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) in Monguno, Borno State, as entirely inaccurate. Boriowo Folasade, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, confirmed on Monday that the institution remains secure and that operations are proceeding normally.

Official verification efforts, involving direct coordination with school management, have confirmed that no security breaches occurred at the boarding facility. The Ministry clarified that rumors of a pre-dawn raid resulting in casualties and attempted abductions are false. While some reports suggested that security forces successfully repelled an attack, the government emphasized that these accounts misidentify the individuals involved.

Education Minister Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa clarified that the incident reported online actually involved remedial students located outside the college grounds, noting that the Borno State government is managing that situation. The Ministry has cautioned the public against spreading unverified reports that incite panic. It reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with security agencies to maintain a safe environment for students across all federal colleges.
