Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has ordered the immediate suspension of Prof. Omorodion Ignatius Ikponmwosa, the Commissioner for Livestock Development, citing alleged misconduct. Along with him, Mrs. Ikpikhumi Betsy Aghaku, who serves as the state project coordinator for the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (LPRES) Project, has also been suspended.
Secretary to the State Government Umar Musa Ikhilor released an official notice on Monday evening confirming these administrative actions. Both individuals are required to surrender all government records, assets, and documentation concerning the LPRES initiative to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock Development. Furthermore, they must report to the office of the Secretary to the State Government to provide a detailed briefing regarding the project’s execution.
While the state has initiated these disciplinary measures, officials have not yet specified the exact nature of the allegations. The LPRES Project functions as a collaborative effort between federal and state authorities, aiming to bolster livestock output and provide better support for farmers involved in the industry.
