The African Democratic Congress in Kebbi State has claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is targeting former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Abubakar Malami. According to the party, these legal actions are meant to discourage Malami from seeking the governorship in the state.
Sufiyanu Bala, the party’s Kebbi State Chairman, and Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Sambawa released a joint statement on Sunday. The ADC argues that the central government is utilizing the judiciary to harass political opponents across the country. They suggest this strategy aims to create fear among rivals ahead of the 2027 elections.
The statement claimed that the governing party faces certain defeat in 2027, which is why they are targeting influential figures like Malami. Furthermore, the ADC accused the Kebbi State government of joining these intimidation efforts. They specifically pointed to the seizure of Malami’s assets as a coordinated attempt to weaken his political standing. Despite these challenges, the party maintains that Malami’s candidacy remains intact and expects the courts to overturn the recent ruling against him.
