Police Capture Abductors of Abuja ECWA Pastors
Operatives from the Anti-Kidnap Unit of the Federal Capital Police Command have apprehended three individuals suspected of kidnapping pastors from the ECWA church in Bwari Area Council, FCT.
During a press conference on Monday in Abuja, FCT Police Commissioner CP Olatunji Disu announced that the suspects were captured following a raid on their hideout in Kweri Forest, which borders Kaduna and the FCT.
Disu noted that the suspects were linked to multiple armed robberies, kidnappings, and assaults on ECWA church pastor’s quarters in Dnapoyi village, as well as in Mpape and Daupe villages.
The suspects, identified as Hussaini Adamu, Yau Adamu, and Aminu Adamu, were reportedly led by their gang leader, Gwan Umar, who operates from the Kaduna forest.
Disu revealed that the suspects confessed to the murder of Comfort Oyanga and admitted to the kidnapping of Felix Sanyo and Julius Oyanga in Daupe, Tafa LGA, Niger State, for which the victims’ family paid an N80 million ransom.
Additionally, the suspects kidnapped Dimas Maisamari in Mpape along with other victims, all of whom were taken to the Kaduna forest.
The police commissioner stated that the suspects extorted millions of naira in ransom from the families of the victims and that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend additional wanted kidnappers on the police command’s list.
Recovered items included two AK-47 rifles, 85 rounds of live 7.62 ammunition, three AK-47 magazines, and one locally-made firearm.
