Accord Party presidential candidate Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has cautioned Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke that his reelection prospects in 2026 are in jeopardy due to his ongoing support for President Bola Tinubu. This warning was issued by the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM), which serves as his support network, in response to statements from Osun State Accord Party Chairman Pastor Victor Akande regarding the candidate’s standing.
Abass Olaniyi, the GHSM South-West Coordinator, argued that Pastor Akande’s recent remarks were inaccurate. The group clarified that Governor Adeleke supported President Tinubu while still affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), well before his transition to the Accord Party. Therefore, the group maintains that this endorsement does not represent the national stance of the Accord Party.
GHSM highlighted that the national leadership of the Accord Party recruited Olawepo-Hashim in March 2026 to strengthen the party’s future. Through direct primaries managed by National Chairman Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, Olawepo-Hashim secured his position as the presidential flagbearer. The group insists that this process established a clear political trajectory for the party.
The organization warned that Governor Adeleke’s current actions could destabilize the party, mirroring the internal conflicts that undermined the PDP. Abass noted that 24 state chairmen have already thrown their support behind Olawepo-Hashim. While a legal challenge regarding the primaries is currently pending at the Federal High Court in Abuja, GHSM urged for party unity, emphasizing that the governor’s political success is tied to the strength and cohesion of his party platform.
