The Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council has promised to deepen its partnership with the Zone 13 Police Command to combat criminal activity throughout Anambra and Enugu states. The council chairman, His Majesty Eze Dr. Chidubem Iweka (Eze Iweka III), confirmed this pledge during a visit from AIG G.I. Eze at his Obosi palace.
Eze Iweka emphasized that community leaders are vital to supporting security operations, as a safe society directly benefits the populace. The monarch also raised concerns regarding the rise of petitions filed against newly appointed traditional leaders amidst succession conflicts. He requested that the police conduct objective and thorough investigations into these disputes before initiating any interventions.
In response, AIG Eze praised the impact of traditional institutions on local order. He encouraged the leaders to share reliable intelligence with law enforcement, highlighting that community involvement is necessary for successful policing. Following these discussions, Eze Iweka established a 15-person committee to organize upcoming cultural events, including the Obiora Obosi 2026 and Ito-Ogbo Obosi 2027 festivals. Former Commonwealth Secretary-General Chief Emeka Anyaoku will serve as the committee’s Grand Patron, with Nze Sir Clement Ifeatu Obi appointed as Chairman.
