Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has promised to promote inclusivity within the Nigerian Bar Association after securing the position of President-elect. Chief Aham Ejelam, SAN, who chaired the NBA Electoral Committee, officially declared her the winner of the vote. In a formal statement, Badejo-Okusanya expressed appreciation to the membership for their trust.
She framed the victory as a shared accomplishment, thanking legal professionals nationwide for backing her platform, titled “A Bolder Bar That Works for Everyone.” During her campaign, she visited all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, gaining insight into the challenges and goals of the legal community. These interactions, she noted, will serve as the foundation for her upcoming administration.
Emphasizing the need for reconciliation, the incoming president urged colleagues to set aside election-related differences to focus on the progress of the legal field. She also acknowledged her opponents for participating in a fair democratic exercise and invited them to collaborate on future initiatives. After thanking her support network and family, she pledged to manage the association with accountability, courage, and fairness, with a primary objective of enhancing the welfare and working conditions of all lawyers.
