Burna Boy Joins Madonna and Justin Bieber for Historic 2026 World Cup Halftime Show

Burna Boy is set to perform at the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show alongside stars like Madonna and Justin Bieber, marking a major milestone for Afrobeats.

Nigerian superstar Burna Boy is poised to make history tonight as he performs during the inaugural FIFA World Cup final halftime show at the New York New Jersey Stadium. This event takes place just before the second half of the 2026 World Cup final.

The Grammy-winning artist will perform alongside an international lineup including Madonna, Shakira, BTS, Justin Bieber, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and the PS22 Chorus. This massive production is expected to draw a worldwide audience of billions.

Burna Boy expressed that his participation is a significant achievement for both himself and the Afrobeats genre. He noted that the ability of sports and music to bring people together is why he is proud to represent Nigeria and Africa on such a prominent stage.

This halftime display is FIFA’s first attempt at a Super Bowl-style musical event. Organized alongside Global Citizen and directed by Chris Martin of Coldplay, the show aims to promote the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which supports educational and football initiatives for youth globally.

The inclusion of Burna Boy reflects the rapid expansion of Afrobeats on the international scene. Having already achieved sold-out stadium tours and significant awards, the singer views this appearance as a way to create further opportunities for future African musicians to gain global recognition.
