Prosecutors Claim Diddy Offered Bribe in Cassie’s Case While Opposing His Bond Appeal
Federal prosecutors are intensifying their efforts to keep Sean “Diddy” Combs in custody, citing concerns that he poses a threat to witnesses and alleged victims if released on bail.
In newly filed court documents, they reference a March 2016 incident at a Los Angeles hotel where Diddy allegedly assaulted a victim, believed to be his former partner, Cassie.
The prosecution describes a violent scene in which Diddy is accused of punching the victim, throwing her to the ground, kicking her, and trying to drag her back to their hotel room.
Following the incident, hotel security, who witnessed the assault on surveillance footage, approached Diddy, who allegedly attempted to bribe the officer with cash to keep silent.
Despite the guard rejecting the offer, Diddy reportedly directed his team to retrieve the footage, which prosecutors claim subsequently disappeared from the hotel’s servers.
These actions have led prosecutors to argue that Diddy’s release could result in witness tampering or further obstruction of justice.
They are urging the court to uphold a previous decision denying him bail, pointing to his history of evading accountability.
Diddy’s legal team has made multiple unsuccessful attempts to appeal the denial of bail as the case progresses.
