Sowore Promises to Rename Public Assets Back if He Becomes President

AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has vowed to reverse the naming of public assets after President Bola Tinubu if he wins the 2027 election.

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate for the African Action Congress, has pledged to strip President Bola Tinubu’s name from all public facilities should he win the 2027 presidential election. This announcement follows the federal government’s recent decision to label the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in honor of the President.

Sharing his stance on Facebook, Sowore criticized the trend of dedicating national infrastructure to the current administration. He stated that his future government would urgently rename these assets, arguing that the leadership has caused significant economic hardship for Nigerians. Minister of Works Dave Umahi originally authorized the title change, asserting that the coastal road honors the President’s vision for the project, which dates back nearly three decades to his time as governor of Lagos State.
