Sir Alex Ferguson ‘Banned from Manchester United Dressing Room’ After Being ‘Sacked’ from £2.61m Ambassadorial Role

Sir Alex Ferguson and the Manchester United football board have been banned from entering the Manchester United dressing room at Old Trafford after matches.

This decision follows the stripping of Ferguson’s multi-million-pound ambassadorial role by the club’s new part-owner, INEOS, as part of a broader cost-cutting initiative.

The legendary Scot has served as a global ambassador for United since stepping down as manager 11 years ago.

However, he will no longer receive his lucrative salary after the current season due to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s cost-cutting measures.

Additionally, it has been reported that Ferguson has been asked to stay away from the Manchester United dressing room after matches as part of a policy change.

While United denies that there is a direct ban on Ferguson, there is now a “collective understanding” regarding who is permitted inside the dressing room.

This marks the end of a long-standing tradition at United, where dressing room visits have been part of the club’s culture for decades.

Previously, figures like David Gill, Mike Edelson, and Sir Bobby Charlton were always welcome to speak to players.

Ferguson was reportedly informed of these changes in a face-to-face meeting with Ratcliffe, who also conveyed that United could no longer commit to his annual salary. He is expected to remain a non-executive director at Old Trafford.
