Residents of the Tokulo community in the Bwari Area Council of the FCT expressed concern following the discovery of 12 bodies believed to be those of bandits.

Jerry Alkali, the councillor representing the Igu Ward, said that the bodies remained at the scene on Tuesday morning, October 15, 2024.

Alkali reported that residents contacted him between 2 and 3 a.m. on Monday, expressing their fear over the continuous sounds of gunfire in the area.

“No one could afford to sleep at the time due to the tension caused by the development. It was later in the morning when some of them were heading to their farms that they sighted corpses lying on the ground outside the village along a road that leads to the Pmape community in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State,” he said.

Another resident, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that none of the victims were from the community, suggesting that the deceased were either involved in criminal activities or brought in and shot dead by security personnel.

Tokulo, the hometown of the current chairman of the Bwari Area Council, has experienced a series of attacks by bandits, resulting in the deaths of both locals and security personnel in the past.

An official from the FCT Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit confirmed the recent incident but declined to provide further details on how it occurred.
