Malami challenges property forfeiture ruling in appellate court

Abubakar Malami is taking the Federal High Court’s ruling on his asset forfeiture to the Court of Appeal, maintaining his faith in the judicial process.

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has formally addressed the Federal High Court ruling in Abuja regarding the seizure of his assets. Through his media assistant, Bello Doka, Malami indicated that while he respects the judicial system, he disagrees with specific findings of the court.

Consequently, Malami has directed his lawyers to file an appeal to contest the decision. The statement stressed that the court’s recent order is not the conclusion of the case. Malami expressed optimism that the appellate court will review the matter thoroughly and rectify the situation.

The statement urged citizens and media organizations to refrain from speculating on the outcome while the legal challenge proceeds. Malami reaffirmed his respect for the rule of law, which he described as essential for a stable democracy. Furthermore, he thanked the people of Kebbi State and the broader public for their continued support.

Malami promised that this legal battle would not hinder his ongoing efforts to contribute to the peace and development of Kebbi State. He also called on his supporters to maintain order and wait for the legal process to reach its natural end.
