Law enforcement officials in Katsina have taken into custody a man accused of distributing illegal narcotics to armed groups within the Funtua Local Government Area. DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the state police spokesperson, verified the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday.
Known by the nickname “Dunbuje,” the individual was captured on July 15 at approximately 5 p.m. by officers from the Central Police Station in Funtua. Authorities utilized intelligence reports to track the suspect before successfully detaining him.
During a subsequent search of the suspect, officers discovered 500 tablets of the banned D5 drug. Early reports suggest that he focused on providing these substances to bandits and various criminal syndicates in Funtua and surrounding regions, effectively supporting their operations.
The suspect remains in detention as police work to map out his supply chain, identify his sources, and locate additional partners. Once the investigation is complete, he will face legal charges. State Commissioner of Police Ali Umar-Fage praised the officers for their efficient work and reiterated the department’s resolve to sever criminal supply lines. Residents are encouraged to continue sharing reliable information with security forces to help reduce crime throughout the state.
