Atiku Urges President Tinubu to Withdraw from 2027 Presidential Race Amid BCDA Leadership Turmoil

Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to abandon his 2027 re-election bid, citing a persistent pattern of administrative incompetence and leadership crises in government agencies like the BCDA.

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate, has described the ongoing leadership conflict within the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) as a clear indicator of a rudderless administration. He asserts that President Bola Tinubu should renounce his plans for a 2027 re-election bid to concentrate on addressing the nation’s governance failures.

Speaking through his spokesperson Phrank Shaibu, Atiku criticized the administration for a series of policy missteps and institutional contradictions that he claims are causing international embarrassment. He argued that the BCDA situation, where an ousted official continues to function despite a presidential replacement, highlights a breakdown in authority. The former Vice President noted that this is not an isolated event, drawing parallels to previous administrative confusion involving NIPOST and the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.

Atiku contended that these repeated errors point to a deeper systemic incompetence. He called on President Tinubu to prioritize national stability over his political future. By stepping aside, Atiku suggested that the President could allow the country to move toward a leadership focused on accountability, constitutional integrity, and economic recovery. He warned that such ongoing inconsistencies damage Nigeria’s reputation among global investors and development partners.
