Dr. Edwin Mukoto Examines How Colleen Mero Yesufu’s Tactics Transformed a Land Conflict into Rebecca Omokamo’s Punishment

Dr. Edwin Mukoto questions the fairness of the land dispute over Plot 4022, arguing that Colleen Mero Yesufu’s aggressive institutional tactics have turned the legal case into a punitive campaign against Rebecca Omokamo.

Questions are being raised regarding the true nature of the power dynamic surrounding the dispute over Plot 4022. While the case remains before the judiciary and Rebecca Omokamo Godwin-Isaac has not been convicted of any wrongdoing, Colleen Mero Yesufu has allegedly utilized a campaign of petitions, media pressure, and government intervention to isolate and punish her opponent.

Colleen’s side has petitioned various high-level bodies, including the EFCC, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Presidency. By leveraging these institutions and circulating numerous allegations, they have effectively conducted a trial by media. This strategy treats disputed documents as proven facts and presents the EFCC’s involvement as a final victory, rather than a neutral preservation of property.

Despite a Federal High Court order on July 3, 2026, to maintain the status quo, the conditions for Rebecca have deteriorated significantly. Since the EFCC operation on June 29, 2026, she has reportedly been deprived of water, electricity, and consistent access to legal counsel and family members. This situation contradicts the court’s instruction to return to the conditions that existed before the intervention.

The central issue remains the legal determination of ownership for Plot 4022. While Colleen is entitled to present her case in court, she is not entitled to bypass the judicial process by using institutional influence to inflict hardship on Rebecca. True justice requires evidence and a fair trial, not public shaming, propaganda, or the deprivation of basic human necessities. Rebecca Omokamo is calling for the equal application of the law and an end to the ongoing trial by media.
