Inibehe Effiong, the attorney representing activists Randy Peter and Mama Pee, has clarified the reasons behind their recent interaction with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Both individuals, known for their vocal support of Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi, appeared at the agency’s office this past Wednesday at 1:00 pm. They were discharged after an 11-hour session.
Addressing public speculation on Thursday, Effiong explained via Facebook that the commission summoned his clients to investigate claims involving the misuse of the Naira. The pair had received official notifications on June 24 and July 6, 2026. According to the lawyer, the meeting was moved to July 15 after his team formally requested a rescheduling due to prior conflicts. Effiong noted that his clients remain optimistic and thanked the public for their support, promising further updates as the legal process continues.
