Buba Galadima addresses hurdles facing potential Obi-Kwankwaso alliance

NDC chieftain Buba Galadima confirms that the proposed Peter Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket is facing difficulties but insists these issues are not impossible to overcome.

Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Buba Galadima has admitted that forming a presidential ticket between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso is facing significant obstacles. During an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday, Galadima emphasized that these challenges are manageable and can be resolved.

Galadima also defended Peter Obi regarding historical criticisms linked to the 1966 military coup. He argued that it is unfair to hold the presidential candidate accountable for actions that occurred before he was born or for the deeds of others. He stressed that national progress depends on moving past historical grievances and fostering unity.

Using the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu as a historical reference, Galadima pointed out that figures involved in past conflicts were eventually pardoned and allowed to engage in the nation’s political life. He further highlighted that the suffering during the 1966 crisis was felt by various ethnic groups, including the Igbo. Ultimately, he advocated for reconciliation and negotiation as the primary tools to bridge the deep-seated political and ethnic divides within Nigeria.
