Intruders target residence of Lamine Yamal in Barcelona following World Cup semi-final

Lamine Yamal’s home was targeted by burglars shortly after Spain’s World Cup semi-final victory, though the suspects fled after being confronted by security.

An attempted break-in occurred at the Barcelona residence of Spanish football player Lamine Yamal this Wednesday, shortly after he played a key role in securing Spain’s spot in the World Cup final. Catalan police confirmed an intrusion attempt took place in Esplugues de Llobregat, though they did not disclose the homeowner’s identity.

Reports from La Vanguardia identified the target as the 19-year-old athlete’s property. Two individuals wearing balaclavas scaled the perimeter wall but retreated upon being spotted by private security personnel. The estate is historically recognized as the former home of Gerard Pique and Shakira.

This incident happened shortly after Spain’s 2-0 win against France in Texas, a match where Yamal drew a penalty that set the team on track for victory. This event adds to a growing trend of high-profile footballers in Spain, including Karim Benzema and Rodrygo, experiencing home burglaries.
