Osun APC Questions Cost Escalation of Gov Adeleke’s Airport Project

The Osun APC has challenged Governor Ademola Adeleke to justify the ballooning costs of an airport project in his hometown, warning that the lack of financial transparency suggests potential misuse of public funds.

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed serious concerns regarding a reported N130 billion airport development located in Ede, the hometown of Governor Ademola Adeleke. Through its campaign council, the party labeled the jump in project costs from an initial N99.5 billion to N130 billion as illicit.

Party officials are demanding that the current administration explain the necessity of this price increase and clarify claims that a large portion of the funds has already been disbursed. The APC noted that this expenditure surpasses the total 2025 budget allocations for several vital state sectors, arguing that the government’s refusal to disclose financial details is breeding public distrust.

The opposition further alleged that the contractor, Sowie Tee, is linked to an associate of Dr. Deji Adeleke, the governor’s brother. These claims have led the party to suggest the project may serve as a vehicle for siphoning public funds. The APC stated that the government’s lack of transparency supports accusations that the airport is a low-priority venture intended to generate cash for vote-buying efforts in the upcoming gubernatorial election. The party has challenged the administration to release all records detailing payment schedules, project progress, and the reasoning behind the contract inflation.
