Senator Ningi Calls for Public Parade and Prosecution of Oyo Kidnapping Suspects

Senator Abdul Ningi has pressed the Nigerian government to publicly parade and prosecute those responsible for the recent kidnapping of students and teachers in Oyo State.

Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central, has formally requested that the Federal Government and law enforcement bodies publicly showcase and prosecute individuals detained for the abduction of students and educators in Oyo State. During the Senate session on Wednesday, Ningi emphasized that holding these perpetrators accountable is essential to deter future criminal activity.

The legislator stated that authorities must follow through with the legal process to set a clear precedent, arguing that any hesitation could erode community confidence in the judiciary. He urged security forces to treat the case with urgency, noting that failing to act promptly might suggest systemic dysfunction.

The incident involved victims taken by armed attackers from several educational institutions, specifically Baptist Nursery and Primary School, LA Primary School, and Community Grammar School, all located within the Oriire Local Government Area. Following 56 days of captivity, the victims were liberated last Friday due to a collaborative rescue effort by security teams.
