Akwa Ibom Police Initiate Statewide Traffic Enforcement Drive

To curb rising road accidents, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has launched a comprehensive traffic enforcement operation targeting major driving violations across the state.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has launched a traffic enforcement campaign across the region to combat the increasing number of vehicular accidents. DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated on Wednesday in Uyo that Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare will personally oversee the operation.

This initiative specifically targets dangerous driving behaviors, such as speeding, driving against traffic, the use of obscured license plates, and the operation of motorcycles in prohibited areas. These measures are intended to restore order to the roads and reduce risks to the public.

Offenders who break these traffic regulations will face arrest and potential prosecution. Authorities have clarified that citizens who follow traffic laws have no reason for concern, as the operation focuses exclusively on enhancing safety for everyone. The Command is urging all motorists and commercial transport operators to adhere to traffic rules and work alongside the deployed officers.
