Six-time Olympic medalist Suni Lee has confirmed her return to gymnastics following a hiatus that began after the 2024 Olympic Games. The 23-year-old, who captured team gold alongside bronze medals in the all-around and uneven bars in Paris, shared her intentions through a social media video.
Reflecting on her journey, Lee stated that she is aware of her potential and is prepared to dedicate the necessary effort to reach her goals. Her announcement surfaced on Instagram with a message indicating that this effort transcends a typical return to the sport. Lee previously faced personal challenges, including a 2023 diagnosis of a chronic kidney disease, following her appearance on Dancing with the Stars in 2021.
Her comeback follows the path of fellow American gymnast Jade Carey, who also resumed competing after a comparable break. Lee is now looking ahead to the Los Angeles 2028 Games, marking the start of her preparation for the next cycle.
