Governor Dauda Lawal has launched an initiative in Zamfara distributing 72,000 bags of fertiliser, 200,000 litres of herbicides, and various machinery to farmers across 147 political wards.

Governor Dauda Lawal has initiated a major support program for farmers in Zamfara, providing over 120 truckloads of supplies during the launch of the 2026 wet-season fertiliser project at the Gusau Trade Fair Complex. The government initiative delivered 72,000 bags of fertiliser along with 200,000 litres of herbicides and 100 crop residue crushers to boost local yields.

Beyond basic supplies, the package includes 100 feed milling machines, 100 grass choppers, pasture seeds, and tools for agricultural extension workers, including 20 motorcycles and 20 mobile phones. Governor Lawal highlighted that Zamfara remains a vital agricultural hub for Nigeria, noting that farming is essential for economic growth, poverty reduction, and stability in the region.

He emphasized that agriculture serves as a core pillar of the state’s identity and future success. To ensure widespread impact, the aid is distributed across all 14 Local Government Areas, reaching every one of the 147 political wards. Each ward is allocated 340 bags of fertiliser, and each local government area will receive 8,000 litres of herbicide to assist local producers.
