Online footage displays the detention of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claimed to lead the nonexistent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Police officers were filmed questioning Adeyemi following his apprehension, which occurred after Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja authorized a bench warrant for his arrest.
The warrant was issued because Adeyemi skipped his scheduled arraignment. He faces an eight-count indictment under case number FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, which includes allegations of impersonation, fraud, and forgery. Even though his lawyer, Genesis Francis, was present in court, the defendant did not show up to enter a plea.
Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and former presidential contender, criticized the situation on social media, labeling the arrest a major cover-up. Sowore suggested that the government is obstructing justice and argued that investigators should also look into Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu. Sowore alleged that an individual connected to a N400 million bribe for the Chief of Staff died under suspicious circumstances and that the hotel where the transaction supposedly occurred was torn down. Neither the Presidency nor Gbajabiamila has commented on these claims.
