Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, has announced that organizations failing to provide housing and transport for assigned corps members will face a ban from the scheme. He shared this warning during an official visit to Lokoja, Kogi State.
General Nafiu emphasized that the federal government remains dedicated to the safety and well-being of participants, while urging local and state governments to bolster their support. He reminded corps members that security is a collective responsibility and advised them to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
During his address, the Director General stressed the importance of discipline and professional conduct, reminding participants that they serve as representatives of their families and institutions. He encouraged them to prioritize the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program, urging them to seek business opportunities within their host communities.
Addressing current economic difficulties, Nafiu advised participants to cultivate a habit of saving to ensure future financial stability. The Kogi State Coordinator, Mrs. Tochi Chika Chris-Moneke, thanked the Director General for his visit and outlined upcoming plans for an employer workshop and a rural health initiative.
