Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo and currently the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), asserts that his personal experiences and practical expertise surpass the knowledge of many university degree holders. He shared these thoughts during a 50th birthday event for Islamic artist Hafsat Adegoke held in Alausa, Lagos.
Reflecting on his past as a teenage bus conductor, Akinsanya emphasized that his rise within the transport union was the result of dedication and hard work rather than academic training. He noted that he began contributing to his household financially at age 13, funding his own entertainment while still providing for his mother. According to him, the insight gained through these life challenges remains superior to formal education.
To validate his support for academics, he highlighted the professional accomplishments of his own children, noting that he has raised a doctor, a lawyer, and an engineer residing in America. Akinsanya urged fathers to remain accountable, characterizing men who fail to provide for their households as enemies of God. He expressed concern regarding the increasing number of women forced to become primary breadwinners due to neglectful husbands and criticized men who prioritize children born outside their wedlock over their own immediate families.
