Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party presidential candidate, stated on Tuesday that President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima fail to embody the values expected of Islamic leadership. Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Adebayo rejected the political implications of their 2023 Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Adebayo argued that the current administration contradicts the principles of justice, honesty, and compassion taught by Prophet Muhammad. He described the current leadership as the antithesis of what followers of the faith should support. The candidate insisted that such governance lacks the integrity required to serve the public interest effectively.
President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima assumed office in 2023 under the All Progressives Congress. Despite circulating rumors that the ticket might shift for the 2027 election, President Tinubu recently confirmed that Shettima will remain his running mate for his re-election bid.
