Abuja Court Jails Associate of Wanted Bandit for 20 Years

The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Muhammad Sani to 20 years in prison for failing to disclose information regarding a known bandit supplier.

On Monday, the Federal High Court in Abuja handed down a 20-year prison sentence to Muhammad Sani. Sani was identified as an accomplice to Danranmi, a criminal known for supplying weaponry to bandit and kidnapping syndicates.

Justice Emeka Nwite presided over the case, which was brought forward by the Department of State Services (DSS). Sani was found guilty of withholding critical intelligence that could have facilitated the capture of Danranmi. The judge imposed a 20-year term for each of the two counts Sani faced, ruling that no fine option would be permitted.

These sentences will be served concurrently, with the time served calculated from Sani’s initial apprehension on January 11, 2023. Originally, the DSS had filed four charges related to terrorism against the defendant. The conviction adheres to the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act of 2022.
