Oyo State Police Verify Kidnapping of School Principal

Police in Oyo State report that 60-year-old headmaster Matthew Owoade was kidnapped while returning from his farm, with captors now demanding a N30 million ransom.

Authorities in Oyo State have verified the kidnapping of 60-year-old school headmaster Matthew Owoade within the Igbojaye region of the Itesiwaju Local Government Area. DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, spokesperson for the state police command, shared the report with reporters in Ibadan this Monday.

Owoade, who leads the Nomadic Basic School in Ogodu, was taken around 6:00 p.m. this past Saturday. He was traveling home from his farm located in Budo Aare when the incident occurred. His son, Abiola Owoade, stated that armed individuals stopped his father and transported him to an undisclosed location.

Law enforcement officials are currently working to locate the victim and identify his captors. According to the police, the kidnappers have reached out to the family to request a ransom payment of N30 million.
