Zamfara State Governor Launches $200 Million Lithium Facility

Governor Dauda Lawal has inaugurated a new $200 million lithium mining and processing plant in Zamfara State, aiming to boost local industrialization and economic growth.

Governor Dauda Lawal has officially opened a $200 million lithium processing site located in Boko Village, within the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. This facility represents a collaborative venture involving Bima Mines Ltd, ZAM Mining Company Ltd, Jinlide Mining Co. Ltd, and several other partners.

During the weekend inauguration, Lawal highlighted the project as a significant achievement in the state’s push toward industrial growth. He noted that the initiative aims to leverage the state’s mineral wealth through strategic investments and the creation of local employment. The governor emphasized that moving away from informal mining toward a structured, regulated sector is essential for attracting reliable investors.

Lawal pointed out that lithium is critical for the global shift toward electric vehicles and renewable energy. He argued that Zamfara should not merely supply raw materials but must participate in the entire value chain through local processing. To ensure success, his administration is working closely with federal authorities to enhance security and infrastructure.

The governor instructed the plant’s management to focus on community well-being, job creation for local residents, and rigorous environmental protections. He concluded by asserting that the project should serve as a genuine partnership to improve the lives of the people in Boko Village and the surrounding areas.
