After Norway’s exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, striker Erling Haaland has revealed he is rooting for England to claim the title. The Vikings were eliminated in the quarter-finals following a 2-1 defeat against the Three Lions in Miami.
Speaking to reporters, Haaland explained his support stems from childhood, noting that he actually owned an England jersey before acquiring his first Norway kit. He added that having several Manchester City teammates playing for England, as well as teams in France and Spain, makes him hopeful for their success.
Norway reached the quarter-finals for the first time in their history after a surprise win over Brazil. Haaland played a pivotal role, scoring seven goals across his first four games. Although Andreas Schjelderup gave Norway the lead against England, Jude Bellingham ultimately scored twice to secure the win for the Three Lions. Haaland finished his tournament with seven goals in five appearances as Norway concluded their best-ever run in the competition.
