First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Urges Top Nigerian Artists to Support Underprivileged Citizens

Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called on music stars Davido, Asake, and Burna Boy to support the government by launching charitable foundations to assist vulnerable citizens.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed to prominent Afrobeat artists, specifically Davido, Asake, and Burna Boy, to contribute to government efforts in supporting impoverished citizens. This call to action was made during the official launch of the national community food basket initiative in Lokoja, Kogi state, this past Saturday.

Drawing a parallel to the humanitarian efforts of Senegalese-American singer Akon, the First Lady encouraged domestic music stars to establish charitable foundations. She emphasized that the current demands on the federal government are overwhelming and that the focus of wealthy entertainers should extend beyond the acquisition of high-end luxury vehicles like Rolls-Royce and Maybach models.

Addressing the artists directly, she noted that while personal success is positive, there is a significant opportunity for them to leverage their wealth for social impact. By establishing foundations, these musicians could provide much-needed assistance to those facing economic hardship across the country.
