Seven individuals, including traditional leaders, detained in Benue following MACBAN chairman’s murder

Benue State police have apprehended seven additional suspects, including four traditional chiefs, in connection with the murder of MACBAN chairman Ardo Risku Mohammad and Yakubu Isa.

Authorities in Benue State have taken seven more people into custody regarding the lethal attack on Ardo Risku Mohammad, the state head of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), and his associate, Yakubu Isa. Those apprehended include four traditional rulers and an 80-year-old man.

The two victims were fatally ambushed by gunmen on June 26, 2026, near Okudu village while traveling back from a peace summit in the nearby Ohimini Local Government Area. DSP Udeme Edet, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police, announced the update on behalf of Commissioner Cletus Nwadiogbu.

Police noted that these developments stem from ongoing intelligence work and tactical maneuvers. The list of suspects now in custody includes Morgan Ejaga, Moses Anteyi, John Ogli, Yawuhu Adaji, Sylvester Ajonye, Aba Alexander Uloko, and Fidelis Iduma.

Commissioner Nwadiogbu commended his team for their dedication to the case. He emphasized that the investigation is far from over and promised that everyone involved in the crime will be held accountable. He further urged the public to stay patient and continue providing the police with any useful information to help maintain order in the state.
