The Leigh Leopards secured a 24-18 victory against the Castleford Tigers, strengthening their position in the Super League play-off race. Leigh built an early 12-0 lead thanks to tries from Lachlan Lam and David Armstrong. Despite this, Castleford fought back before the interval with scores from Sam Hall and Mikaele Ravalawa, who was a late addition to the squad.
In the second half, Umyla Hanley and Armstrong both crossed the line to restore a two-score cushion for the home team. Although Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e scored late for the Tigers, Leigh held on to secure their ninth win in eleven matches. The Leopards currently sit in seventh place, trailing the play-off spots only by point difference, while Castleford remains in eleventh place following their fifth loss in six games.
The match featured two disallowed tries for Castleford, including one from Jason Qareqare that was overturned by a video review. Louis Senior of Castleford was also sent to the sin bin for a high tackle during the second half. Despite the pressure, Leigh successfully defended their lead to extend their undefeated record against Castleford to nine consecutive meetings.
