AAUA Academic Staff Launch Indefinite Strike Over Salary Arrears

Lecturers at Adekunle Ajasin University have begun an indefinite strike to demand the payment of overdue salaries for May and June 2026.

Academic staff at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, have officially initiated an indefinite strike in response to unpaid wages. This development was confirmed in a statement issued by the local chapter chairperson, Comrade Bolu Oshodi, following decisions made during congress meetings held in April and June 2026.

The strike, which commenced on July 10, 2026, is described by the union as a complete cessation of all duties. Members have vowed to maintain this position until the university administration and the Ondo State Government settle the outstanding payments for May and June 2026. This industrial action is set to stall academic operations across the campus.

The union also reported that previous correspondence sent to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa regarding these salary issues remains unacknowledged. Additionally, the staff expressed significant worry concerning the ongoing financial stability and funding of the institution.
