Peter Obi Suggests President Tinubu Should Retire Amid Insecurity Concerns

Peter Obi aligns with Pastor Adeboye’s assessment that President Tinubu has exerted his best effort but suggests the leader should step down to allow for more effective governance.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has expressed agreement with Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s recent remarks regarding President Bola Tinubu’s performance. While acknowledging that the President has made efforts to manage Nigeria’s security crisis, Obi argued that these efforts have proven insufficient. During an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the former Anambra State governor asserted that the country requires a leader with greater competence and capacity to resolve its fundamental issues. He explicitly stated that President Tinubu appears exhausted and would be better off retiring.

Obi emphasized that governing a nation requires specific attributes including character, compassion, and commitment. He encouraged the Nigerian electorate to evaluate his own professional track record and proposed policies when considering their choice for the 2027 election. This perspective follows Pastor Adeboye’s defense of the President, where the cleric suggested that the administration’s role is to direct military strategy rather than engage in field operations. Despite this defense, the cleric acknowledged the urgency of addressing ongoing threats such as kidnapping and terrorism.
