Dana White, president of Zuffa Boxing, has officially confirmed that four-weight world champion Shakur Stevenson has signed with the promotion. The 29-year-old American maintains an unblemished professional record of 25 wins, his most recent being a victory over Teofimo Lopez in February for the WBO light-welterweight crown.
Following that win, Stevenson expressed interest in facing British fighter Conor Benn, a fellow Zuffa athlete. Stevenson stated his intention to systematically defeat the top contenders in the division to claim the top spot in pound-for-pound rankings while representing Zuffa. The fighter’s resume includes titles in the featherweight, super-featherweight, and lightweight divisions, in addition to a bantamweight silver medal from the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Dana White hailed the signing as a significant milestone for Zuffa Boxing, praising Stevenson’s status as an elite competitor. Zuffa, a promotion backed by Saudi Arabian capital, is actively challenging established boxing promoters. The company has already acquired several notable talents, including IBF cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia. It is currently unclear if Stevenson will retain his current championship belts following this transition. Zuffa continues to lobby for reforms to the Muhammad Ali Act, aiming to implement a UFC-style business structure within the sport of boxing.
